Rooted in Ayurveda. Made for Everyday India.
Sewari was created from a simple belief:
The food families use every day should be made with care, understood with knowledge, and trusted without hesitation.
For founder Jayesh Mehta, that belief grew from decades spent working with Ayurveda, understanding consumers and seeing first-hand how products were being made and sold across India.
Over time, one problem became increasingly difficult to ignore — everyday staples such as cooking oils and ghee were often becoming harder for families to trust.
Sewari was created to offer a different approach.
Traditional methods. Thoughtful ingredients. Controlled manufacturing. And a philosophy rooted in Indian and Ayurvedic food wisdom.
A Journey That Began with Ayurveda
Jayesh Mehta grew up in a family that operated a pharmacy business in the suburbs of Mumbai.
But rather than spend his life behind the counter of a chemist shop, he wanted to build something of his own.
Soon after completing school, Jayesh travelled to Varanasi to study herbal and Ayurvedic medicine.
There, he developed a deeper understanding of Ayurveda — not simply as a collection of herbs or formulations, but as a system that looks carefully at the qualities of ingredients, how they are prepared and how they are traditionally used.
He returned to Mumbai with his Ayurvedic education, ambition and a determination to become an entrepreneur.
Why Sewari
Sewari was created to bring greater trust, traditional thinking and manufacturing discipline to everyday Indian food staples.
The idea was not to make food complicated.
It was to return attention to the things that had always mattered:
What is the ingredient?
How is it processed?
What qualities does it naturally have?
And how does it fit into the everyday Indian kitchen?
That philosophy shapes every Sewari product.
Ayurveda as a Way of Understanding Food
Ayurveda is an important part of Sewari's foundation.
But for Sewari, Ayurveda does not mean placing a health claim on every ingredient.
It means understanding that different foods have different qualities.
Traditional Ayurvedic thinking looks at characteristics such as:
- warming or cooling
- light or heavy
- pungent, sweet or bitter
- dry or unctuous
- aromatic or penetrating
That perspective is especially meaningful when looking at everyday fats, oils and spices.
Ghrita (Ghee) has its own traditional character.
Sarshapa (Mustard) is understood differently from Narikela (Coconut).
Tila Taila (Sesame Oil) has qualities distinct from other oils.
Spices such as Shunthi (Ginger) and Maricha (Black Pepper) bring a very different character from Ela (Cardamom) or Tvak (Cinnamon).
This leads to one of the ideas at the heart of Sewari:
Different ingredients. Different qualities. Different uses.
There does not have to be one universally “best” oil, spice or food.
The ingredient, preparation, dish, season and context all matter.
That is traditional food wisdom made practical for the modern Indian kitchen.
Traditional Methods Where They Matter
Sewari combines this food philosophy with methods chosen according to the product.
Cold Pressed Oils
Our cooking oils are produced using cold-pressing methods designed to keep processing straightforward and retain the natural character of the ingredient.
From sunflower and groundnut to mustard, coconut and blended oils, each one brings a different flavour and cooking profile.
Bilona Ghee
Sewari Bilona Ghee follows the traditional curd-based process.
Milk is cultured into curd, the curd is churned to separate makkhan, and the butter is then slowly clarified into aromatic ghee.
It is a process built around patience rather than shortcuts.
Tea Masala Gold
Our Marwari-style Tea Masala brings together ginger, black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg.
Each spice contributes its own warmth, aroma and character — creating a layered blend for one of India's most familiar everyday rituals: chai.
Made Under Our Own Supervision
One of Sewari's most important advantages is control over manufacturing.
Sewari products are manufactured by Shree Maruti Herbal at its facility in Falna, Rajasthan.
Owning and operating the manufacturing setup allows the team to stay closer to:
- raw materials
- production processes
- hygiene and handling
- product consistency
- packaging
- quality control
For a brand built around trust, this matters.
Sewari is not simply selecting products from a catalogue and putting a label on them.
The intention is to stay connected to how the food is actually made.
Our Philosophy
Sewari is built around a simple idea:
Traditional knowledge should still have a place in the modern Indian kitchen.
That does not mean rejecting modern life.
It means carrying forward good principles.
Understanding ingredients.
Respecting traditional processes where they matter.
Manufacturing with care.
And earning the confidence of families one product at a time.
Because for Sewari, trust is not something printed on a label.
It is something a brand has to earn.
